There are amazing videos available for your use, and many of them have been professionally captioned. When looking for resources for your course, the best option is to weed out any videos that are not captioned, or have poor captions--there will still be plenty to choose from!  Here are just a few resources to get you started:

As online education has gained popularity, the resources in your library have been shifting, too. Be sure to visit your library and ask your librarian about streaming videos collections, such as Films on Demand. 

Captioned Videos from our Library Databases

Videos that are licensed for institutional use by our library are all captioned to meet ADA requirements. You can review them here or find them in our library databases. Videos can be embedded directly into your Canvas course. 

With literally thousands of talks captured in video, TED offers a wide array of high-quality videos that are exceptionally engaging. All of the videos produced by TED are captioned, and also have time-stamped transcripts, which are terrific study guides for students. There are TEDx speeches, as well. These are independent events that are affiliated with TED, but may not be captioned. When choosing a TED video, look carefully to see if you are using TED or TEDx--don't assume that the TEDx videos have the same captioning standards. 

Instead of searching for TED on YouTube, start from the TED website, where you'll have full access to peripheral resources provided by TED.

We know you are the best judge of the content of the videos, but urge you to pay close attention to the two-pronged theme of this unit--accessibility and usability. As you choose, look for excellent captioning, and high production quality, including sound and visual. It is still important to check that captioning is accurate and includes "audio description" where appropriate.
